National Museum of Flight, East Fortune & Dunbar

Come with us as we head off to explore the history of aviation, uncover unforgettable stories and discover one of Europe’s best collections of aircraft.

The National Museum of Flight is home to Scotland’s only Concorde, you can climb aboard and follow in the footsteps of old school celebrities as you board this iconic aircraft and see what it was like to fly faster than the speed of sound! Discover what transatlantic flight was like for passengers and crew and learn about the legacy of this iconic aircraft. Before or after boarding Concorde herself, take a trip through the Concorde Experience exhibition to discover the story of supersonic flight.

Visit the Civil Avation hangar, this hangar explores different uses of civilian aircraft, from flying for fun and exploring the world to connecting distant communities. Get up-close to aeroplanes, autogyros and hang-gliders. The aeroplanes, autogyros and hang-gliders in the aviation collection represents a range of different uses of civilian aircraft, from delivering goods to delivering babies!

In the military hangar you can discover the first use of air to air weapons in 1914 to drone warfare in the 21st century.

There’s also galleries & displays, the airfield and grounds, museum and trails.

After our visit to the museum, we will depart after lunch and travel to Dunbar, giving you free time to visit the bustling historic town centre or take a stroll down to the harbour, it’s just a short walk from the town and is a busy attraction in its own right. A visit to the harbour area involves three harbours, a ruined castle and a “battery” as well as a huge collection of water craft from fishing boats to kayaks and an occasional visiting seal. the area has a long history with strategic importance at the entrance of the Firth of Forth with the elevated position of the castle established as a defensive outpost from the 7th century.

Payment is required at the time of booking for all day trips. Refunds will be given if cancellation is given up to 21 days prior to the trip, however if tickets are included, only the coach travel element can be refunded. After this, no refunds will be given.
