With visits to the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno, historic
Chester, Llangollen our tour explores as many of the highlights of this beautiful area as we possibly can squeeze in to our 5 day break.
Day 1 – We arrive at our hotel in time for evening dinner after some free time in the historic city of Chester which has the most complete city walls and largest Roman Amphitheatre in Britain, plus a 1,000-year-old cathedral and 700-year-old unique shopping row.
Day 2 – After breakfast, we will enjoy time at leisure in Llangollen before we experience a 2-hour relaxing horse-drawn canal boat cruise, admiring the Chain Bridge across the River Dee and marvelling at the manmade Horseshoe Falls, a striking feature on the river, whilst gliding along one of the most beautiful lengths of canal you will ever see. A delicious cream tea will be served either before or after our cruise in the traditional tea rooms along the canal side.
Day 3 – Wednesday is market day in Mold, so after breakfast we make the short journey to the town to enjoy a quick stroll around its popular street market, one of the biggest and best in North Wales, from here, we enjoy a lovely drive via Colwyn Bay to the ‘Queen of Welsh’ resorts, Llandudno, with it’s wonderful beaches and lovely wide promenade. While here we enjoy a ride to the top of the Great Orme on the beautifully restored tram.
Day 4 – Today we embark on a stunning circular trip taking in buzzing Betws-y-coed, the gateway to the snowy peaks and dazzling lakes of Eryri, Snowdonia National Park, from here we will travel through the Crimea Pass, a scenic mountain pass offering stunning views of slate quarries and mountains connecting Gwynedd and Conwy counties, then to Blaenau Ffestiniog, former slate capital of the world, Porthmadog & Bala are also on the route, the centre piece to Bala being the largest natural lake in Wales.
